Sunday Afternoon Update: Officials Report 18 in Pueblo County Tested Positive to COVID-19

Story by Jenny Paulson – As of 3:30 pm March 29th, the Public Health Department after reporting in the am, said the number of cases again increased, with four more additional cases tallied in.

Officials in a press release, said to date there have been 276 tests for COVID-19 testing in Pueblo County and 82 tests are pending results from a lab. 23 tests have now been returned with positive results from Pueblo County, 14 of which are from Pueblo County, one from Crowley County, one Huerfano County, one Douglas County, one Rio Grande County, and one Fremont County.

Results are not all Pueblo County residents because Pueblo’s hospitals serve and test individuals from outside of Pueblo County.

The community testing results from the testing day at the Colorado State Fair Grounds include 40 of the 90 have been returned with 37 negatives and two positives, of which one is from Douglas County. One test sample was not able to be processed and 50 test samples still pending. One woman from Pueblo died from the virus.

The Department of Public Health says: Everybody has a responsibility to protect the Pueblo community and our most vulnerable in Pueblo by:

Minimize social activities and being physically close to other people.

Do not go to the emergency room unless medically necessary.

Wash your hands with soap regularly.

Cough or sneeze into elbow or tissue.

Stay home when you’re sick.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

Avoid close contact with sick people.

Clean surfaces frequently touched.
