Shrimp cocktails have all but disappeared from American restaurant menus, but they are as popular as ever in Mexico and this authentic Mexican version is now featured at Carnitas Michoacanas Backyard Bar & Grill, formerly Shorty’s Bar & Grill in the County.

With the recent change of ownership, this restaurant has begun featuring the types of authentic Mexican drinks, food and live music that you’d find if you were on vacation in Mexico. Known as Coctel de Camarones on the Pacific Coast and Coctel de Campechana on the Gulf Coast, this is a favorite Mexican seafood dish, served locally with an ice cold Michelada.
The Michelada & Shrimp Cocktail featured at the Carnitas Michoacanas Backyard Bar & Grill’s Facebook page, is a perfect appetizer and spicy beer cocktail combination (think of it as a sort of Mexican Bloody Mary) for the hot summer days and nights – made with clamato, hot sauce and other spices.

Shaken or stirred with ice, this Michelada & Shrimp Cocktail pairs perfectly with breakfast, lunch or dinner or an afternoon snack served by this restaurant, which has a fabulous outdoor seating area with a sand filled volleyball court.
