MAURO’S KITCHEN AT TACO CASA SERVES THEIR FAMOUS PUEBLO-STYLE MEXICAN FOOD BUT ALSO THIS FEATURED GAINT BURGER WITH HOME CUT FRIES (A GIANT SLOPPER VERSION TOO)

Story by Jenny Paulson – Taco Casa, a long time Pueblo staple located off Norwood in Belmont, sold earlier this year and its new owners updated their menu to include this new Giant 3/4 Pound Burger that might peak the interest of those who love juicy burgers with homemade style fries (now served on fresh Schuster’s buns). They also have a Giant Slopper on their menu.

The kitchen at Taco Casa, now owned and managed by Rebekah Mauro, a co-owner of Classic Q’s and a local burrito making company, is open Monday thru Saturday 11 am -8:30 pm. You can also now order Mauro’s Kitchen’s homemade Italian Sausage Sandwich, a Pueblo tradition at Taco Casa in Norwood as well as breakfast and lunch burritos, tamales (beef, pork and Italian) pizza, Stromboli, calzones, pasta, Italian subs, a Pueblo Chile wrap, sloppers and a variety of appetizers including nachos, chicken strips, jalapeño poppers and onion rings.

You can choose from red or green chile with your meal, or Mauro’s own family recipe of custom Pueblo Green Chile Salsa that they sell in bottles at their establishments and at some local grocery stores, including LaGree’s on the Mesa.

Husband and wife team, Ted Mauro and Rebekah, who started their Mauro’s Kitchen business in 2002, have become a local household name for their quality handcrafted burritos, sold at local convenience stores, at their pool hall and restaurant (Classic Q’s on Prairie Avenue), and now at Taco Casa in Norwood.

The Mauro’s expanded their burrito making business to over 200 retailers in 17 states, now serving over 8 million burritos in their 17 years of business. Here in Pueblo, you can buy fresh Mauro’s “Grab and Go” burritos at your favorite Loaf n’ Jug , Kwik Shop or C- Store.

They bought Taco Casa in Belmont earlier this year in April. The old owner, Paul, still owns the original Taco Casa in the County.

A limited version of their meals are served at Classic Q’s on South Prairie, where you can also play pool, darts and listen to live music. This local power couple also runs an entertainment business.

If you want to have your food delivered to your door, Mauro’s Kitchen @ Taco Casa Norwood can be ordered from Grub Hub or Door Dash. Classic Q’s is available on Grub Hub.
