April 3, 2020 – District 70 announced that officials have decided to cancel all in-person classes for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. Remote learning classes are scheduled to start April 6th.
“District 70 has canceled all in-person classes and activities through the end of the year,” was posted on the D70 website. “We will be starting our remote learning classes on April 6, 2020.”
Officials say that it was a difficult decision to make but that the health and safety of students, staff and families are the top priority – and that the district believes this move can help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
“We understand that internet and computer resources are not available to all families and we will have paper workbooks for those families who need them,” they posted.
District officials will be working on plans for end of year activities such as graduation and will post that information as soon as it is finalized.
